TO EDUCATE pupils on the importance of eye health, Specsavers in Swinton has hosted a workshop at Harrop Fold School in Salford, filmed by Channel 4 for the second series of Educating Greater Manchester.
Year 9 pupils aged 13-14 were invited to attend the assembly to learn more about the importance of eye care.
During the assembly, pupils met with opticians who dispelled common myths around wearing glasses and contact lenses, whilst advising on how often children should receive eye tests.
The Specsavers Swinton team is now reaching out to other schools in Greater Manchester to deliver the workshops in local schools across the region.
Store manager Rachel Jones says: ‘It has been fantastic to work with the pupils at Harrop Fold Secondary School and the Channel 4 producers.
‘Vision is crucial for a child’s development, and we strongly believe that by educating children they will become engaged with their eye care. This will help to ensure they don’t encounter any eye health issues now or later in life.
‘Our team has a huge amount of expertise and experience, and it’s great to be able to share this and encourage the next generation to continue maintaining their eye health.’
