Classical Concerts: Sunday 1st April, 3pm and Monday 2nd April 5pm
The Classical Concerts feature graduate singing stars from the Royal Northern College of Music; Jenny Carson (soprano), Thomas D Hopkinson (bass), Dan McDwyer (tenor) and the Vine Quartet conducted by Alex Robinson.
The Classical Concerts will reveal the story of the Egerton family's musical past at Heaton. The history will unfold through music and storytelling told by the famous actress Fanny Kemble who visited the Hall, played by Caroline Clegg. Regular visitors to Heaton Hall in its prime included Charles Halle and Arthur Sullivan, The Duke of Wellington, Disraeli along with Seymour Egertonís Wandering Minstrels Orchestra that first opened the Royal Albert Hall in London. Audiences get the rare opportunity to meander through the normally closed Hall leading to the elegant Music Room. As an Easter treat this concert has something for everyone. Featuring Handel, Corelli, Mendelssohn, Verdi, Puccini, Gounod, Lehar and a whole dose of fun with Gilbert and Sullivan.
Feelgood Theatre Productions (formed in 1994) are the Official Theatre Partner with Manchester City Council for Heaton Park and are now well established back in Heaton Park. Who can forget their magical and hilarious A Midsummer Night's Dream last summer or their moving sell-out musical play Whispers of Heaton or their terrifying Halloween Ghost Story last year.
The Easter Concerts mark the start of their full programme of events in the park for 2018. Romeo and Juliet will follow in July - Aug, a Halloween show, a very special Manchester Peace Song Cycle in November and a new Christmas treat.
